Scroll-controlled animations, smarter file management, and new options for backdrops, media, footers, and more: explore the latest features and find inspiration in a selection of recent stories.
We have made improvements throughout Pageflow over the past few months. Many of them grew directly out of feedback from our community and focus on the areas that make the biggest difference in day-to-day editorial work.
But good digital stories are not created solely through new features. It is also crucial how content is interconnected and what paths the audience takes through a publication. Therefore, in June, we created a structure guide under the title "Guide, don't confuse".
How different digital formats can look in practice is also shown in our recap below with six current Pageflow stories: from corporate magazines and multimedia reports to international annual reports. In our recap, we present these projects and show what new features are available to you for implementing your own ideas.
How a complex topic can be conveyed personally and understandably is demonstrated by the interactive report 'Marys Dorf – Gemeinsam. Hunger beenden.' - (Mary's Village – Together. Ending Hunger.') by the Welthungerhilfe. The project won the German Prize for Online Communication 2026 in the category NGO Communication.
The story takes us to Gbandi in Sierra Leone and follows Mary and her family through their daily life. At five stations, it becomes visible how nutrition, agriculture, hygiene, education, and community learning interact and sustainably change life in the village. This makes a comprehensive project approach tangible from the perspective of the local people and based on their personal experiences.
The multimedia story is complemented by the AI chatbot Mabinty. It answers questions about the project, the impact of the measures, and the use of donations.
The following features make it easier to use interactive illustrations, keep media organised, and communicate the use of AI-generated content transparently. They streamline work in the editor while giving you more creative options and helping audiences understand how your content was made.
With the new content element, you can directly embed Lottie animations into your Pageflow stories. The vector-based .lottie files remain sharp on all screen sizes and are suitable for animated infographics, process representations, explanations, or small visual accents.
In our blog article, we show the various playback and positioning options and explain how to create your own Lottie animations. You will also find sample files for download, which you can use to try out the new element directly.
As a story grows, so does the number of images, videos, audio files, and graphics it contains. To make larger projects easier to manage, we have completely redesigned file management in the editor.
All files in a story now appear in one shared list. Buttons let you filter by media type, while a significantly larger preview makes it easier to choose the right asset. Images are shown without cropping, and videos, audio files, and the new Lottie files can be previewed directly.
You can also create folders and organise material by chapter, topic, or production status. Move individual files or a whole selection at once.
You can now document whether a medium was created or edited with artificial intelligence directly in the file settings. There are two labels to choose from: Fully AI-generated and Partially AI-modified.
Pageflow displays the notice with the official EU symbols directly on the used medium – along with the copyright information, if it has been provided. In an additional free text field, you can explain which components were created or modified.
This allows the use of AI to be communicated in a comprehensible way, without having to create separate notes or special solutions for each element.
Story reviews often take place across emails, chats, and separate documents. Context quickly gets lost: Which passage does a comment refer to? Which element needs attention? What has already been resolved?
With the new commenting feature, feedback stays connected to the relevant content. Team members can leave comments on a section, an element, or a specific passage of text, reply to existing comments, and mark completed discussions as resolved. This makes editorial reviews, revisions, and approvals easier, especially when several people are working on a story or external contributors are providing feedback.
Comments are currently available in Early Access. Our detailed guide covers how the feature works and provides the latest development updates. We are looking for teams to test comments in their own workflows and share their experience with us.
These six recent projects demonstrate the range of digital content you can create with Pageflow. Spanning a corporate magazine, multimedia features, and international annual reports, they use images, video, maps, graphics, and clear structures to make complex subjects accessible.
Swipe through the selection to see how companies and organisations in business, science, and international development are turning their subjects into distinctive digital experiences.
Alongside these highlights, we have added several smaller features and improvements. They provide more ways to style videos and content elements, simplify recurring tasks, and improve support for multilingual publications.
Inline videos can be equipped with a fullscreen button. On desktop and Android devices, the video opens in fullscreen. On the iPhone, the native video player takes over and facilitates switching to landscape mode.
For inline videos, you can choose a fixed aspect ratio and style the display with rounded corners, as a square, or as a circle. For the portrait version on smartphones, you can set your own settings.
The shadow blending of a section is no longer limited to black or white. You can choose a custom color and better match the gradient with the background motif or the design of the story.
Images, videos, galleries, and teaser lists can be given a border or a shadow. This allows elements to stand out more clearly from the background and to be visually consistent.
Links in the footer can be organized into groups with their own headings. You can choose between a layout in rows or columns and set the spacing to compact, medium, or generous. Social media profiles are automatically displayed with the appropriate icons.
Texts and URLs in the footer and info box can be stored separately for each language. This applies to legal information, custom link groups, and social media links. Regional language variants automatically revert to the respective base language.
In the account settings, you can define default values for sections and content elements of new stories. This includes, among other things, label variants, the display of file permissions, and the type of hyphenation for headings. The values are adopted when creating a story and can be individually adjusted there.

The latest updates support different stages of production. Lottie animations expand your visual toolkit, the redesigned file manager makes large volumes of media easier to handle, and global defaults give every new story a reliable starting point. Additional options for video, footers, and content elements provide more control when shaping the final experience.
At the same time, the updates address questions that matter increasingly in digital publishing: How do we guide audiences through extensive content? How do we organise collaboration across a team? And how do we communicate transparently when AI has played a part in creating or editing media?
The award-winning “Mary’s Village” and the other projects from the Pageflow community show what is possible when these tools are shaped around the subject, the audience, and the story.
